Entry-Level Staff Microbiologist

BBC Laboratories, an environmental microbiology lab, is seeking a full time team member for all phases of microbiological sample processing and research. We are a commercial laboratory, working with an international clientele in the areas of sustainable agriculture, environmental remediation, and nutraceutical testing. Duties will include sample receiving, processing for a wide variety of microbiological analyses, reading and recording data, and participation in general laboratory duties. This is an entry level position with potential for expansion into protocol development and independent research.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess a strong interest in environmental microbiology, ability to learn quickly and work independently, and the desire to participate in a team focused on providing the best possible services and information to our clients.

This position requires a BS in microbiology or a related field, OR a comparable combination of coursework and laboratory experience (we will consider candidates within one semester of completion of such a degree). Candidates are expected to have technical proficiency in basic microbiological laboratory tasks and an interest in environmental and agricultural applications of microbiology. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience and/or coursework in bacterial taxonomy, bacterial ecology, mycology, molecular biology, and soil science.

Starting salary $27-31k per year, commensurate with experience; benefits include health and dental insurance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave.
